ABM Contractors Ltd is proud to announce the successful completion of the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council St Thomas Fields Sports Facility in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14.
This landmark project involved the design and construction of a modern, high-quality sports campus comprising a 1,574m² main sports building and an 846m² sprint track building, delivering a combined Gross Floor Area of 2,420m².
Designed to support community participation, athletic development and high-performance training, the main sports building includes a fully equipped gym, sports hall, fitness studio, conditioning room, changing facilities, café, offices and meeting rooms. Complementing these facilities, the dedicated sprint track building incorporates a six-lane, 60-metre indoor running track together with specialist conditioning facilities to support athlete training and performance.
A key element of this design is the blue-green roof which combines rainwater storage and controlled drainage with vegetation. This provides both environmental and practical benefits attenuating rainwater to reduce surface-water runoff while introducing planting and biodiversity to the roofscape. The architectural design is further enhanced through contemporary polycarbonate rainscreen cladding, creating a visually striking and high-performing facility.
The project also included the delivery of all associated site infrastructure and enabling works, including mechanical and electrical services, underground utilities, drainage, public lighting, communications infrastructure, roads and footpaths, site furniture, hard and soft landscaping, boundary treatments and public realm works.
