ABM Contractors are pleased to announce the completion and handover of a new bespoke two-storey modular education facility at Portlaoise College, Mountrath Road, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, delivered on behalf of the Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB).
This design and build project provides a total floor area of 970m² to meet the growing educational needs of the school. Constructed using off-site prefabricated modular methods, the building was delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption to the existing campus.
It took one week for the delivery and the full installation of modules to form the superstructure, including the roof and cladding elements. Work on the internal finishes and the sealing of the external cladding and roof began, with main fabric of building and finishes completed within a matter of months.
The high-quality modular design offers bright, flexible and sustainable learning spaces to support both STEM and general education programmes.
The new building consists of four general classrooms for mainstream teaching, an engineering room equipped with specialist tools and workstations, a science room complete with laboratory fixtures and fittings, and a science preparation room for the safe handling and storage of lab materials. The development also incorporates a wheelchair-accessible lift and toilet facilities throughout both storeys, ensuring accessibility and comfort for all users.
At ABM, every project is guided by our core values:
Build Safely – Build Quality – Build Together – Build for the Future.
The Portlaoise College project reflects these values through careful planning, collaborative delivery and a commitment to long-lasting, future-ready educational infrastructure.
