ABM Core Values Day 2026

March 30, 2026

On 25th March, ABM Contractors held our Annual Core Values Day at the Clayton Hotel, Dublin Airport. The event brought our team together to reflect on our core values, Build Safely, Build Quality, Build Together, and Build for the Future and to reinforce the role they play in shaping ABM’s culture.

Opening the event, Philip Weinmann, General Manager welcomed all to the day and in particular renowned speaker and author Gerry Duffy as MC for the afternoon proceedings. Gerry delivered a series of engaging talks and workshops, emphasising that it is not enough for organisations to simply define their core values, they must actively live by them. A key takeaway was the importance of strong connections between colleagues in creating a healthy, supportive, and high-performing work environment.

Following this, members of our ABM team shared insights aligned with each of our core values:

  • Our Health & Safety team of Andrew O’Brien, Padraig O’Flynn, and Shane Ruane spoke on Build Safely, highlighting the critical importance of a safety-first mindset, particularly when working at height.
  • Con Ross, Engineering Manager, explored Build Quality, outlining best practices in construction at elevation, material selection, and the risks associated with poor execution.
  • David McCabe, BIM Manager, addressed Build for the Future, discussing the growing role of AI in construction, upcoming BIM legislation in Ireland, and the evolution of document control with emerging PDM systems.
  • Robert Fraser, Head of Construction, and Tom Dunne, Commercial Manager, spoke on Build Together, focusing on collaboration through digital tools and improved reporting systems.

We were pleased to welcome two guest speakers, including Mary Grady of The Lighthouse Charity, who highlighted the organisation’s provision of critical emotional, physical, and financial support to construction workers and their families.

The final talk of the day came from Fergus Farrell, one which was powerful and deeply personal. Fergus shared his story of resilience following a life-changing injury. His message resonated strongly across the room, reinforcing the importance of mental health, support networks, and the strength found in connection.

On behalf of Pat O’Neill, ABM Company Director, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the day a success - our guest speakers, staff presenters, and all ABM team members, both on-site and in the office.

A special and sincere thank you to Derek Seery as he marks his retirement after many years of dedication and hard work. He leaves with the respect and appreciation of everyone at ABM, and we wish him every success and happiness in this next chapter.
